F.A.Q.

Our experience confirms that most of the persons that we work with have incorrect information, recommendations or half truths about the skills or approaches necessary to effectively manage their careers and job search efforts. Our expertise gained through education, real life training and experience, guiding and supporting thousands of individual clients through their career transition activities allows us to provide the most successful skills and techniques.

There are many questions that each person has on how to correctly and effectively manage their career and job searches. Unfortunately, the advice of friends, family and others, although well intentioned, are often incorrect and lead to wasted time, counter- productive efforts and frustrations.

While there are correct methods and techniques that reduce the time and frustrations associated with such efforts, often the correct answers depend on the individual and should be customized to maximize the time and resources of the person. Our services are highly individualized, so we are able to answer your questions or concerns with specific training and coaching, geared to your unique needs, personality type and abilities.

Following are some of the questions that are often asked.

Is responding to job openings posted on the Internet a good approach to finding the right position?

Why is a one-page resume not really a good idea for someone with more than five years of work experience in my career path?

Should a resume be limited to only two pages?

Why is it better to place the educational experience at the end of the resume, rather than at the beginning?

What would be good exceptions to this advice?

What is the best way to prepare for an interview with the recruiter?

What is the best way to manage the interview with the hiring manager?

What is the advantage to developing a target company list?

Are all contacts approached in the same manner?

Is it a smart idea to have a cup of coffee with as many contacts as possible?

How do I handle questions about why I left or was terminated from past employer?

How do I identify and talk about my strengths?

How do I correctly negotiate the final hiring package to make sure that I don’t blow the opportunity, but get the best offer?
